Formerly known as Deanna Rix, Deanna Betterman grew up immersed in the wrestling community of Maine. Her father, Matt Rix, was a wrestling coach at Marshwood High School, introducing her to the sport at an early age. Deanna began wrestling around the age of four, developing a passion that would eventually take her to the highest levels of competition.
During her high school years at Marshwood, Deanna established herself as one of Maine's standout wrestlers. In 2005, she came remarkably close to winning a state championship while competing against boys. Following her competitive career, she transitioned into coaching and developing the next generation of wrestlers. Alongside her husband, Joe Betterman, she helped establish Betterman Elite in Colorado Springs, bringing decades of experience and a lifelong connection to wrestling into the academy.
